Application Procedure

Step 1) Identity Verification & Issuance of e-Cert PIN

• Applicant brings along his/her smart ID card and appears in person at designated post offices. Details about the opening hours of the designated post offices can be found on Hongkong Post Certification Authority’s website.
• Present applicant’s smart ID card for identity verification;
• e-Cert PIN will be issued to applicant.

Step 2) Generation, Acceptance & Embedding of e-Cert

• e-Cert will be generated;
• Applicant to accept the content of e-Cert;
• e-Cert to be embedded in the applicant’s smart ID card.

Step 3) Activate e-Cert

• With computer facilities equipped with suitable smart card reader, applicant can use e-Cert PIN to start using the e-Cert.
