Since 23 June 2003, the HKSAR Government had started issuing smart ID cards to the general public at the existing Registration of Persons Offices of the Immigration Department. To view the addresses and office hours of the Registration of Persons Offices, please click here.
Territory-wide ID Card Replacement Exercise
The territory-wide ID card replacement exercise commenced on 18 August 2003 and was completed on 31 March 2007. With the completion of the replacement exercise, all Smart Identity Card Centres had ceased to accept applications for smart identity cards. Starting from 2 April 2007, persons who have missed their specified call-up periods and have not replaced their old identity cards should make their applications at any of the Registration of Persons Offices as soon as possible.
