Starting from March 1, 2021, government employees and members of the public will be required to scan the QR code of the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app (www.leavehomesafe.gov.hk) or register their names, contact numbers and the date and time of their visits before entering government buildings or offices for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed case is found. To fight the epidemic together, we appeal for visitors' co-operation with the instructions given by the staff on site. As a result of the arrangement, the waiting time for public services or entering the relevant premises may be lengthened. We appeal for your understanding.
Children born in 2005-2007 or 2012-2018 and holding old form of smart HKICs (i.e. identity cards with date of issue on or before November, 24 2018) must apply for new smart HKICs on or before September 18, 2021. Upon the child's HKIC replacement, parent/legal guardian shall bring the child's relevant documentation and his/her own proof of identity, please click here for details.
Persons being called up before and who are unable to replace their HKICs within specified period due to the epidemic shall apply for HKIC replacement at the Replacement Centres. Flexible arrangement will be made according to the applicant's situation.
You may make appointment and prefill forms through the Immigration Department's Mobile Application or website www.gov.hk/newicbooking before visiting the Replacement Centres for enjoying a faster registration process.
The new Smart Identity Card has been introduced on November 26, 2018. Its security features, card durability as well as chip technology on personal data protection have been enhanced.
